Have got a MY94 WRX RA and noticed alot of banging from suspension. All the coils on the springs are closed except 2.
Is this a feature on RAs and is it worth changing them for Eibachs for better handling???

Any Thoughts............

Where is the banging comming from? and two spring are not trapped, is that what you are saying? if so that will cause banging when you go over bumps that lift the suspension up.

If it is the rears read my post Prodrive struts knocking again.

Thanks for the reply but I have taken off the rear suspension and checked the springs and shocks seem okay.

When I look under the wheel arch the springs are all compressed with only the last two coils uncompressed not leaving much travel so when I go over a large bump or have people in the back it bangs. They must be rally or track springs the car is from japan.

The car is quite low and have just ordered the eibach 30mm springs I hape it does not raise the car too much.

I would doubt it is your struts. I had the same problem with the bilsteins it is the top hats in the rear struts, the bush is not strong enough to cope with the stiffness, so get someone to replace them, I had mine replaced with Nolathane bushes. My symptoms were the occasional squeeking and clonked all the time, even just going over a ramp slowly.
Haven't had that problem again.
