Ever since I have had my WRX (18 months) I have been trying to sort an intermittent problem with the power steering. If I am going quickly over a bumpy road, the steering pump strts to produce a squeeling noise. It rises and falls with the revs, and gradually stops after a minute or two on tickover.
I am now on my third pump with no cure. The latest pump even whines on the motorway, and the sound increases in volume as i turn the wheel when using a slip road. There are no leaks, i'm using the right fluid etc. ect. Any ideas?
