anyone got dms gold fitted - unbiased opinions only!
Was wondering what peoples thoughts were on this now its a better known brand
Is it easy to set up?
i.e could a Subaru garage fit the kit for me say - or is it quite complicated getting the settings just right?
Dont want to buy to find its so damn complicated that I find its on but I aint got it on correct settings and thus its as good as useless?
Is it ok to have on as well as front alk, front and rear thicker MRT bars and rear links
I always heard that with Leda there was a problem say if you had the antilift kit on - this was a couple of years ago and cant remember the reasons other than with alk on handling was compromised - cant really see how that would be the case though

Had them fitted by Barretts Motorsport 10 days ago (to my MY00) and I think they are a major improvement over the previous STi v6 set-up. Be aware that DMS recommend fitting the stiffer STi Top Mounts at the same time to avoid unseen "bobble" in the Top Mounts.
The instructions supplied by DMS give ride heights, suggested geometry and initial click settings to start from and Jamie Drummond was very helpful. Phil @ Barretts thought they were easy to fit and I'm still at the fiddling stage regarding settings front to rear (currently running at 13 clicks from full hard F & R). My car is in at Scoobysport soon and if Pete C is around I'm interested in his thoughts on how the Gold's feel. I'm no trackstar but for road use I think the quality is way better than the Sti's (and I'm now running 215/40/18's!!) and they seem to have enough adjustment to allow for a good track setup.
Marks so far 8/10 but I need a good driver to try my car on track (Stef??)
Mail me off-line if you require any more info

Much as I like Pete I'm not sure how I'd value his opinion of a competitors product - he's a businessman after all, and this isn't the kind of thread he likes to get involved in as DMS (marketed by Scoobymania amongst others) is a direct competitor to Leda (which Scoobysport has an exclusive deal with).
The DMS you fitted Willo, is this the setup from Scoobymania? I was just wondering if Scoobymania DMS gold setup is generic or their own specific product.
I'm very interested in the outcome of this, but considering the cost of both systems I can't believe anyone who has made the investment in either will be impartial.
Could be the Brembo/Alcon/AP brake debate equivalent.
Best regards
Chuck

I believe that we may just be able to be impartial for you gents

As the Midlands appointed official Scoobysport outlet we obviously have fitted Leda and we were sponsored by DMS for running the scooby in group N!!!
The very first set of DMS road kit, was trialled on our very own Scoob and the set up showed great promise. The quality and fit is excellent, very easy to use and will take a bit of hammer! To be fair, this was a very early set and the spring rate wasn't exactly spot on for road use (although awesome on track). I do understand that this has now been sorted.
The Leda kit is also an extremely well tried and tested formula. There have been many many hours of testing and setting up to get to where Pete has got them to today.
At the risk of sounding like a fence-sitter, You can't really go wrong with either. Base it on personal preference, best looking, best deal.... or whatever!! i don't honestly believe you'll be disappointed whichever route you take.
Cheers
Paul, TSL Motorsport
Damn you Paul! I am wavering towards Leda myself to be honest, for the very reasons you've stated. Much like the big brake debates of the past I believe either solution will be alot better than the current situation with my car. Leda 'B' is alot cheaper than DMS gold, I'm in Essex, so close to Leda themselves (for customer support), and Pete is a charasmatic old wallet magnet.
What will I do? Damn!

Bilstein are bringing out a set of coilovers for the Scoob with height adjust, plus rebound adjust etc.
Price is expected to be 850 ish pounds for the kit.
Kit is complete, is/was going through TuV approval.
You now know as much much as I do.
Cheers

Wonder if prodrive (bless their little cotton socks) will tie up an exclusive deal with them and market it through Subaru at £2k then.... LOL But then again I guess they won't do that for old generation Scoob stuff anymore.

I didn't expect Pete to sing it's praises on the web but as a constant "tweaker" himself I always value his personal opinion (which often has less to do with commercial reasoning than you may imagine!!). The DMS Gold's are a standard "off the shelf" set-up with 225F/180R double progressive springs(others are available on request) - I'm pretty sure that is what Mr Tuckwood is using now on his Scoob (or it was when I spoke to him last). I know on the MY01 cars that the spring rates have changed to 180F&R and that a different type of mounting is required (sorry to be vague but the I-Club have lots of info on MY01 specs). I did as much research as possible on the Ledas and DMS, asked lots of questions about both setups and to be honest neither seemed to be an outright winner. The guys in the US have had DMS's for a while now (I-club is an excellent info source) and the general consensus was that they were an excellent road setup (comfortable yet compliant) and were generally "noiseless" (the biggest complaint from Leda owners that I spoke to was of noise from the rear of the car, although this may now be fixed)
To be honest it seemed cool to do something other than the usual Leda route so I ordered the units from Avo (UK Distributors) after checking on a couple of points with DMS.
I should be at the East Kent meet on Sunday (other half permitting) and I'm happy to take anyone out for a try
Did I do the right thing?? Maybe, but I have learned that suspension is such a subjective thing that you have to do as much research as possible before laying out the hard earned cash. Coilovers make the subjectiveness ten times worse since the harsh and crashy test drive may be just down to the drivers personal preferrences on Bump/Rebound/Ride Height.
