Unsure if there is a major difference, but bear in mind that the earlier cars (MY96 and older) had the intercoolers at a slant. So the strut brace may have been angled differently. I guess it just depends on the brand.

Are all Subaru strut braces compatible with all Imprezas. Would, for example, an STi strut brace off a 94 car fit a UK MY00?
Are there any differences in the suspension turrets?
