Rear-subframe bolts for camber adjust
#1
Can anyone describe where the rear sub-frame bolts are?
These apparently can be loosened so the rear-subframe can be moved to equalize the camber......
Any comments?

Rear camber cannot be adjusted!!! You need to install camber bolts if you want to.
Althought there is some (minor) play (read tolerence) wich you can use, but nothing drastic. MRT sell the bolts (not cheap though).
I have them installed next friday.

Nico,
sorry to disagree, but when I took my car to Micheldever tyres, who are one of the best in the South of England for doing geom, they equalised camber at the back - they said a small equalisation was possible, but nothing custom.
They do one or two Imprezas everyday and most users on the BBS seem to recommend.
However I can't answer the question as to how you do it!
Cheers,
David

The info about the huge difference in camber comes from Brett at MRT. He noted, when doing four wheel alignments on MY99 models that the rear was not equal and that the differance was too much to compensate through the rear bolts. But still camber is not really adjustable.

Micheldever did my rears but commented there wasnt much to play with..
However since we (bbs users) seem to go for prodrive settings which is all about increasing neg camber on the fronts and simply equalising the rears..why would you want to massively adjust the rears? Understeer freak ?

Why would you want to move the rear sub frame? surely this is bolted to the centre of the car.
The rear camber is adjustable!!!
On my car the rear was 0.5neg and 1.3neg it has now been equalized,I have 1.3neg both sides.
It was done by opening out the holes a fraction on the bottom of the suspension leg, this gives you the movement you need to correct it.
On the front I have 1.7neg without any excess tyre wear.
The car feels well balanced and turn in is excellent with virtually no understeer.
Cheers Phill.
