Anyone out there have an opinion about how long a pair of rear Prodrive (Bilstein) rear struts should last ?
I've just been told by my dealer that the "rattle" i've got is because the dampers need replacing after only 40,000 miles AND it's not covered by the warranty
Should i be arguing with them about this ? Would the standard struts be covered under the 3 year warranty or are they a "consumeable" ?
Thanks ... Andy

Andy, Bilstein struts are now covered by their own 3-year warranty. If you dont have any luck with the dealer it might be worth speaking to Prodrive or direct to Bilstein. As to life, I remember reading an article on one of the early MK2 golfs in the UK, and the owner had fitted Bilsteins, and still going strong after about 120,000 miles , if I remember correctly. My dads Legacy turbo is on it's original KYB dampers at around 130,000 [ although I would say thats exceptional for an OE damper!], so I think you could have a good case,
