Lowering spring kit
Anybody have experience of fiiting aftermarket springs that lower the car? I wouldn't mind reducing the ride height by about 25mm. Saw one recently and it looked quite good. Seems quite cheap for a set (170) of Eibach parts from Graham Goode. Prodrive use Eibach springs as well. I know the geometry needs resetting but my local dealer didn't know much about installing just the springs. Anyone had this done by a garage and how much?
Thanks

I have Eibach springs on my MY96 - standard dampers. It is lower and stiffer but the dampers are not matched to the springs so the ride is bouncy...
I know Prodrive use Eibach springs but they are progressive ones apparently. And they provide a matched spring/damper setup. Go for these or Leda - you'll be disappointed with just the springs.
Cheers

Hi,
I've replaced my standard 99MY set-up with STiV parts and (bought from IWOC list). The advantages are the car is lowered (about 35mm),looks mean and now handles a lot better, but ,BUT, I have an annoying kock on the front which needs solving (see my post).
There's a second-hand Pro-drive set-up on the 'part's for sale' list at the moment.

Hi there...
I agree about the springs and dampers... on a car like the scoob you have to get the whole package... springs and matched dampers....otherwise its crap...
As regards fitting the springs...it will be the same cost (virtually) as it would be to fit new suspension...you have to take the dampers (or if u prefer Struts...or Legs) out completely...fit the new springs...and then refit the legs...takes the same time as fitting complete new legs.
Cheers,
J.
ps - takes a few hours... not too long...but does depend on suspension...and you need your geometry resetting afterwards....etc...

PS. Anyone know anything about Cobra alarm systems - went to my car this morning and it's permanently immobalised!

If my memory doesn't fool me, I remember reading somewhere that lowering the Impreza more that 20mm would ruin the suspension efficiency (this without major suspension modifications). Any comments?
By the way, any opinions on the H&R(-50mm) or S'Racing(-20) progressive springs for the original MY98 KYB dampers?
