Went to fit my Eibach springs yesterday - going fine until I came to removing the 2 lower 19mm bolts on the front shocks, the nuts have seized! Anyone had this before? I know they would probably come off no probs if I could get enough heat into them but the butane torch I tried this with didnt seem to have much effect. Would it be easier to just get a nut splitter on them or grind them off and get a new set of nuts, bolts and washers from Subaru?
Any advice would be much appreciated
Cheers,
Ayde

A couple of good 19mm impact sockets (the thick walled hexagon shaped ones) and 2 nice long bars sorted mine out after I torched them. They fought for a bit then gave up and came undone...
I wouldn't go down the nut splitter route unless it was a last resort - the new nuts etc will probably cost more than buying the tools, and you'll most likely get more use from the tools...

Gave them a good soaking in penetrating fluid last night and then heated them up again this morning - really big breaker bar and some brute force and they all came off! Put plenty of anti-seize on them fastened them all back up. Will have a go at getting the springs on tomorrow
Thanks for the advice mate.

Oh! such memories! Those bolts are done up VERY tight, add corrosion and they seem welded into place....
Excellent advice with the sockets, ordinary sockets are not man enough.
My tip would be to fit eccentric camber bolts so the wheeels can get the negative camber needed to kill off some of the understeer! Not cheap, but worth it IMHO.
