How to fit rear strut brace to JDM wagon?

Hello all,
Well, many modded wagons on here, any one fitted a rear strut brace to one?
The strut tops are hidden behind loads of plastic trim apparently which will need to be trimmed for the cross brace, has any one done this and got tips ( which bits of trim to remove, where to cut slot for brace bar etc.) for easiest and tidiest fitting?
It's a Whiteline Alloy oval bar if that makes a difference!
