Squeaking pillowball top mounts
#1
Fitted a set of these last week and now have annoying squeak whenever suspension compresses - should they be greased, I mean they look pretty solid - no movement.
Anyone else with this?

Mines are squeeking too, just newly fitted along with Leda B's.
I was well informed that the noise would "carry" through the car and sound much louder that it realy is because of doing away with the rubber top mounts which isolate a lot of the noises.
I can't hear any noises from out side the car which is good cause it sounds like an old lorry from the the inside
Think it's more anoying that anything else

911, How are those AVO struts holding up on open B-roads, I'm considering buying a coilover kit for my classic but here in Belgium there is no one whit enough expierience to answer my questions.
Finally I have to make a choiche between KW, AVO, Leda or Bilstein
I will ordering them from TSL or Graham Goode...

Yo Creepy!
If I had my chioce again I would by the very best I could, and that would NOT be AVO.
Let me explain. I have had the struts on now for 4000 miles and they have worked well both on the road and the Hill climbs in which I compete also. One has become very noisey though still works. The quality is poor (they are rusty and with flaking paint) and did not come with any brackets for the brakelines. I had to make these and weld them on myself.
There were no set-up instructions and very poor factory support, very much you bought them now go away.
I drove a friends RA V3 with DMS Gold struts on a sprint track and the car was just so much better; they are £1600 here though.
Buy the best not the cheapest!
Hope this help you. Regards, Graham.

911 (GT3 ? ),
I'm looking around and collect all comments before I will buy coilovers.
The standard setup on a MY0 is god enough for fast road and spirited track driving. OK, it rolls and leans a bit when going hard but I prefer that instead of a rock-hard car that become very snappy on the limit.
Intrax has very good comments here in Belgium, they coming from Holland so garantee will not be a problem.
But when I order something from outher Europe, it had to be good.
DMS, Leda and so on are also good (IMHO) but when I have problems with them I have to send them and have to wait a couple of weeks (with the car of the road).
Maybe it's better to buy something nearby (altough Intrax is only height adjustable) instead of ordering something from the other side of the planet....

GT3? I wish! No, my 911 is a hot tweeked 1973 with a chipped 3.2 litre engine used for competition. 1000Kg and 230 bhp = happiness. Great car, just very crude and fast!(traction to match a Scooby)
Understand what you say about local purchase, but buy quality such as the ones you say, not AVO.
There is also a little secret for you. Have the rear spring rate 80% of the front. This is most important!
Good luck!
Graham.
