Question

I am in the process of fitting a rear strut brace, instructions are all Japanise so now help what so ever. I have removed rear seats and rear belts to gain access to suspension tops. There are alloy plates covering the struts so my questions are:-

1 Should these plates be removed or should you mount the strut on top of the plates.
2. Does the strut need and kind of preload, as there are elongated holes between bar and mounting rings.

Cheers

Oops forgot to say this is for a my01

Have a look at this web site instruction on how to fit rear strut.
Used them to fit mine, and I fitted above the strut over the plate. Looked at fitting it after went to TSL for the fitting of Eibachs and engineer fitted then the same as well.
rear strut fitting instructions
Just make sure car is on level surface before fitting etc. I spent some time getting the two adjustable ends the same number of treads apart, for apperance sake !
