I've got a 99 Turbo with tek2 and decat on about 270hp and it scares the life out of me still (so no more power for now thanks Pete).

Anyway, on the limit it feels a bit rolly polly now, when it was standard it felt stuck but now with the power and me pushing it harder its feeling quite loose indeed, sometimes get huge oversteer and sometimes huge understeer (yes, probably me!). It just doesnt feel like its handling the power nearly as well as it did when it ws standard. Are the £100-£200 Geometry and bump steer mods worth the money, and am I ultimately looking at new suspension to get it stuck down again?

I can see tons of more powerful cars than mine about on here and just wondering what everyone else's solution is to this? Or am I just being a bit too twitchy with the car and not smooth enough, if so i'll go get some proper driving lessons!

You don't say what size wheels you're on, but I have a my00, (same as yours) with about the same power, I have eibach springs, with the 'Prodrive' geometry, and 17' wheels, works great for me, mind you, b4 I had the springs and 17's, I had all standard, with just the geometry done, and that was damn good too, sounds to me like the first stop you should make is to get that done, do that, and if you still think it's crap, then get bumpsteer etc!

Already invested in some 17's with 215/40/17 rubber in the form of Goodyear GSD3 Eagle F1's which made a LOT of difference.

So whats this geometry thing, just a fancy name for 4 wheel alignment? Who does it if not?

Yes - 'geometry' does mean wheel alignment. Alignment and bumpsteer removal makes a cheap and effective upgrade. If you want to spend a few quid more, add a thicker rear antiroll bar, some solid rear droplinks (mounts for the ARB) and a front strut brace.

i thought the impreza didnt gain much from a front strut brace? Being a strong chassis alredy?

Cheers for the advice, might try the cheap options first, are there any potential downsides to worry about?

The new-shape cars are stiffer than 'Classics'. I had all the work done at the same time, so I can't compare the before/after effect of the strut brace alone.

The cheapest option is the bumpsteer/geometry, which will cost a shade over £200. The car will be more prone to oversteer. Downsides? Not really.
