LOL
I knew someone would do better
Found this from Power station's site

This modification probably gives the largest single improvement to the Nissan Sunny GTi-R handling since the cars conception. The inherent understeer when this car is pushed is almost completely eliminated. The kit consists of a pair of high quality steel rose joints, which replace the original track rod ends. A high carbon steel machined insert is fitted to the steering arm. This lowers the pivot point of the track rod ends, effectively reducing the bumpsteer by two thirds (see graph below).

Exclamation

WRBlue-STi7-Prodrive,

If you do indeed drive an STi 7 then the bump steer mod is not needed as the Mk II & III Impreza are not supposed to suffer.

PS

The summary of the results (when you do this to an impreza) is that it totally (well very nearly ) elimates the impreza's inherrent understeer (built in as a safety measure so you can see what you you are about to crash into ) and gives a slightly tail happy feel but with a very solid and planted front end feel

This gives you much greater stability when braking from higher speeds by ensuring that basically more of the tires tread pattern is in contact with the road surface as prior to bumpsteer mod the inevitable nose diving when braking which causes the wheels to splay outwards would leave less tread in contact with the road ie. wheel do this / \ , post bumsteer they stay like this | | ... so it makes sense that grip and braking will be improved with grip

Brake flex is also reduced which basically leaves us all happy bunnies

<takes breath>

Question

Is it a mod the insurance companys have fits about (I can just imagine me trying to explain bump steer to a cabbage on the other end of the phone when I need a quote !)

It will also reduce the tendency for the front tyres to wear out first on the inner edges, My car was very bad for that and now the tyres are worn evenly after 9K miles. Coupled with the solid anti roll bar links, rear only for your STI, the handling is transformed into a neutrally hahdling car with increased grip all round especially in the wet.
