Question

Im looking to lower the car, want a decent drop though.... I did see a brand of springs offering a 50mm drop but cant remeber what they were? MRT?

Any ideas? I know Eibachs are regarded as the best, but I dont think they drop the car enough.

Cheers

Paul

MRT are the ones that give the car the most noticeable drop. I have PI springs on my car, lowered -35mm and it is noticeable from standard, but if i was gonna do it again i would defo go -45mm or lower!

Question

Just jumping on this thread ....

As the cost of a set of lower springs is not 'mucho dollar' I too am thinking about lowering my wagon.

40mm (ish) drop is fine with me (on std MY99 wheels), but do I need to be aware of anything else that will need tweaking/replacing/setting up again, or is it just as simple as replacing the springs in?

Ta.

You should really get your geometry reset after lowering the car.

TSL did my springs and geometry and the difference was astounding. Undoubtedly the best mod I've done. The lightweight wheels is the icing on the cake.

I am not expert on this, but IMHO more than 3mm lowered is bad, which ever way you look at it, except you have in mind to change other suspension bits.

Can't help laughing but I've just gone the opposite way.

I used to have a set of Whiteline Superlow springs and have got fed up with the rear end scraping the guard at high speeds.

So I have just had a set of DMS golds installed. Wow !! is all I can say. The vehicle has been totally transformed. Ride height is now back to standard and the handling and steering response is incredible.

I might lower it slightly in the future, but have been told by the installer that lowering coilovers will actually soft the ride.

Is this true ?

He meant 30mm.

any more than this and the dampers are stressed (standard ones).

Just got my H&R springs through from jwracing(£165 + Del).
They should lower my car about -35mm. They quote -50mm but as I understand it that is for a standard impreza (non turbo model).
The turbo sits slightly lower anyway hence why you wont get -50mm more like -35mm approx. People have said that they are slightly stiffer and lower than Eibachs. Can't comment because I have not put them on yet!

Fitted the H&R's. Taken the gap out between arche and wheel nicely. Definaetly not lowered 50mm though. 30mm ish, just right.Ride is stiffer but not majorly different from standard set up, noticed most when pressing on which is what you want.
Alot more confidence with the car around corners now.
Happy as the springs have done everything they said they would, Except the -50mm bit which not everyone is aware off.
will post before and after pics if anyone interested.
