DMS 40 experiences
#1
I am curious as to how those across the pond are fairing with the DMS 40mm struts ("golds")
I would like to hear experiences, both positive and negative that you guys have.
In North America, we seem to be having problems where after 3-10k miles the rear struts start making quite a racket (loud 'clunky' noises at low speeds) and sticking causing bounciness and delayed weight transfers. Clunking noises are often attributed to stiffer strut tops, but these would not develop over time, and we have other member experiences with the 50s that do not exhibit these same noises at low speeds, despite using the same strut tops.
DMS Australia has vehemently denied that this is a widespread issue despite the fact that everyone over at the www.nasioc.com (North American Subaru Impreza Club) forums who has DMS 40mm struts has either had them serviced under warantee, paid to have them serviced, or is experiencing the issues described above within 10k miles. So far there has not been one single experience to the contrary and on the order of 20-30 who have had issues. Many have noted that this issue did not start out a problem, but developed over as little as 3000 miles and as much as 8000 miles.
It has been the opinion of DMS that this is a service issue associated with performanace struts, that they will require servicing from time to time.
I especially value positive experiences, as peopel seem to be less willing to share these. But I would really like to know if some people have NOT experienced these issues.
Thank You
