Leda B damper settings??

I've just had the Leda B coilovers fitted with 325/225 springs front and rear.
Ride height is about 330m from wheel centre to arch (don't know how much lower that is) but I have no idea how stiff to take the dampers.

They are currently 12 front/9 rear from softest. What rates work best with these things??

Also does anyone find a knocking from the rear at low speeds with the Ledas?

I spoke to John Felstead about this a few weeks back, he recommended:

6 From Softest (Front)
4 From Softest (Rear)

+ 2 Clicks if shocks / tyres were worn out.

As for knocking am sure its a Leda trait, my Front Left strut is noisy compared with the others.

I was running 8 front, 5 rear with 275 / 225 springs...

If you are planning to change settings always run the adjusters through their full range a coulple of times, then back down to the softest setting before going up to your desired level...just to make sure the valves are clear apparently.

4 front 5 rear for me on the road, 11f, 12r at the ring and 20f 22r on UK tracks. Mind you, mine have the tarmac rally valving and its not a Scoob, but it weighs about the same.

Edited to say mine are a bit clonky when cold, and it sounds like I have budgies trapped in the boot when they get "warm" on track. Mine are due for a rebuild (25,000 miles total, including 1,500 track miles)

what's the difference between tarmac valving and not?

I gather from them they do various valvings, which change the initial stiffness / reaction of the damper to load. They go from fast road, to track day, to gravel rally / rally cross to tarmac rally, to full circuit. Just means mine start of stiffer and react differently to the fast road or track day ones.

Thats my understanding of it, I'm sure someone more technical can explain the differences in the valving.

Just fitted two identical sets of Leda B (325/225) to very similar cars (one 98 one 99MY).
The 98MY has very slight nocking from rear when cold, but this soon goes completely.
The 99MY is very clonkey from rear when cold, and still noisey at low speed when warm.

Leda say that there should be NO noises when warm (and that they no longer get any complaints about this since a redesign about a year ago!!!!!!).

Clearly Leda do have a problem with this knocking, but they seem willing to take units back to investigate or replace them.

We did make some alterations last year to stop this happening.

Looks like I may have to go back to braintree and have the engineers take a look because mine gets no quieter.

Interesting that most of you have gone for softer settings than mine....maybe its a result of the hard as nails GAB stuff I had on there before but I can't help feeling its a bit too bouncy at the moment.

Am I right in thinking that if the car is going light over bumps at speed and taking longer to squat back down than your blood pressure would like - then they are too soft?

275/225 lb springs were the old standard set up, 325/225 is the curent standard, I've replaced my old springs with 450/275...but haven't driven with them on yet

Rattling dampers (I beleive it'sa valve) is a farily standard Leda trait, I've given up hoping that it will ever be cured...rear dampers have just had their thrid rebuild, front's their second...still to see if it's been cured this time round
