Everyone's got their own opinion, it's difficult to say what is the best value when it might cost you £200 to get to Powerstation

IMHO, best mods (for value) are the DIY ones. I fitted a cheap front upper strut brace (£50) (it impoved things so much I bought the rest (rear and lowers!!)) fit eibachs (£150) or simalar then get the geom set up (£100'ish).
I don't get any understeer (does that mean I'm not pushing hard enough

A good geom set up by someone who knows what they are doing will dial out most of the understeer.

Iain.

Question

Let's face it, Imprezas don't actually handle that well...

Ouch! Stop beating me with that down pipe!
I know they are better than alot of cars. They are very secure, which is why they are well reviewed in the press but they are prone to understeer in standard form, especially on track. If they were properly sorted by Subaru, then there wouldn't be so many mods available, would there?

What I'm after is the best value mod or combination of mods which sharpen up turn in and dial out the inherent understeer (mine's a 99MY standard except for brakes and SO3s).

So comparisons between Anti-Lift Kit, Bump Steer mod, changing bushes, changing geometry settings, Anti roll bars, losing 5 stone, any others.

I know its a huge subject, but what's your views, especially if you've experienced different mods on otherwise similar cars?

(If this has been done before, then anyone remember the thread?)

In anticipation of glorious power slides...

Bumpsteer and Powerstation geometry - very pleased!

Do a search for bumpsteer and listen to all the sunshine being blown up Powestation's ****.

Good cheap mod. (long drive though in my case!)

After having been down this road with my MY00UK, I would say:

1. Bump Steer Mod - essential Better/sharper turn in, less understeer
2. Proper Geom setup - makes it more stable and generally sharper
3. Anti Lift Kit - improved road feel and better/more planted feel on powering out of corners
4. Uprated front and rear ARB bushes - more consistent feel when cornering

Hope this helps,

Matt

Uprated rear ARB and geometry if you're on a budget. Then fit ALK later, followed by the decent suspension you're car will be screaming for by this stage

Sounds stupid, but the www.j-w-racing.com adjustable Quick-Shift was my best value for money mod so far!

sorry, didn't read the post properly. Obviously quickshifts have nothing to do with turn in etc

I wanted to ask a similar question. Are the dampers or springs worth upgrading ?
Do the strut brace make much difference ?
