Wagon / 4 door ride height - anyone help?
#1
Hi
I have a MY99 turbo wagon and have noticed that it seems to sit higher than a standard 4 door and seems a softer ride as well.
( used to have MY96 4 door)
Does anyone know how much higher the the wagon is compared to the 4 door.
Even better would someone be so kind as to measure the height from the centre of the wheel to the wheel arch lip on a MY99/00 for me, so that I can compare.
I am planning on getting a used set of MY99 4 door springs to put on my wagon if they do indeed reduce the ride height, and then have the Powerstation alignment/bump steer mod done.
Cheers
Denis

Thanks Puff for that. What you say surprises me as my wagon looks higher than I remember my 4 door being, and the dealer quotes different part numbers for the 4 and 5 door springs.
I am avoiding Eibachs cos the roads around here are awful and I am running on 17's so I am a bit concerned that the ride may be to hard.
If anyone can help me with an actual measuerment of a MY99/00 ride height I would be grateful

Thanks for that. Pavlo you have a point there.
What confuses even more is that I contacted Eibach today and they informed me that they list the same springs for both the 4 door and 5 door.
Has anyone actually fitted 4 door springs to a wagon with any success, or has it been **** end down due to extra weight?

well, I put 4 door sti springs on a legacy before I realised the different rates/weights would be an issue.
back is LOW, but that's because it's a heavyweight legacy, an impreza wagon ought to be okay.
if you want controlled lowness the eibachs will be fine I think, because the generally higher rates will be affected less by the extra weight anyway.

Eibach told me that they developed their springs for the wagon first and expected the 4 door to be lighter at the back but when they got their hands on the first one it turned out to be the same weight at the back as the 5 door. So they didn't need to develop a second set for the 4 door.
