Anti-lift kit - will it make steering too heavy?
I had the ALK fitted to my MY00 and I'm pretty certain it didn't increase the steering weight (but if it did, it was not by much). It did increase the feel quite a bit (due to the harder bushes, which IMHO was a vast improvement) and reduced the power on understeer on the exit of corners (exactly what it says on the tin).

Beofre i go and do something i regret, what's the experienced opinion of the anti-lift kit?
Is the self-centering effect good at all times, or is it something i could get fed up with?
More fundamentally, what would my car specifically do better (or worse) with this fitted?

Go for it. I've got it fitted to my MY01 and it improved it significantly. The steering is marginally heavier (but it is still too light for my tastes) and the ride is slightly harsher (due to the stiffer bushes), but on balance the improvement in confidence on the front end going where you point it (very technical
) is worth it.
Some people have claimed that you get increased dive when braking, but I'm not sensitive enough to notice it.

Depends on which geometry you go for too - lots of negative camber will give the straight ahead feel of an old Porsche 911; likes to follw cambers and doesn't feel too stable.
However, you feel everything and loads up beautifully on turn in

ive had it done along with bumpsteer mod and geometery with -1 negative camber allround [from powerestation] its excellent with the new goodyear gsd3 f1 tyres -stable andno understeer and a nice sharp turn in i dont think the steering is that heavy its a little harsher because of the stiffer bushes which i think you can have with more compliant bushes if you wanted.
