OK I will call the tyre place in the morning they were quoting £96 for 215x40/17 for Toyo Proxes so going to be looking at £400 for tyres which is why I was worried about them still hitting. So I don't need to be concerned the centre of the inside of the wheel is way too big for the hub? Funny you should say cam covers as thats exactly what the previous owner had said had been leaking and that he had spent ages fixing - clearly not fixed at all! I've booked into the Subaru specialist at Newbury later this month as I want it looked at by those who know scoobs inside out.

Yes yesI was listening lol just said whay I was quoted on today before you saying get the 35s! I’m hoping the 35s aren’t more expensive it’s less tyre
If the cam cover gasket is easy to fix im wondering why the previous owner didn’t do it properly (he has his own engineering company) so is there a bigger issue with the cam covers
How many miles on your Type R it looks like new?!

My first scoob was an my98 in 2001 it was bullet proof and like a brand new car now i'm learning what they are like after nearly 30 years - not quite the same in reliability however the smile is back on my face getting in it and turning the ignition just the same as it was back then and that is priceless. Only got it really to go Japanese car meets with my youngest Son and because he wasn't even born when I had my 2 previous scoobs and he absolutely loves them.

I've had a 15 year break from Impezas and was expecting to be priced out the market now but still plenty about not asking silly money for them so get one then - the sound and driving experience gets me far more than the perfomance (one of my other cars is far higher perfomance but nowhere near as fun).

Mechanic and spent ages to fix rocer cover gasket😂
Put gt1 coilovers on it and it will be way better than any oem struts.
Omg think You got 2 years max with this car or it will cost You thousands soon.

This picture is enough for me, my looked better ,younger car with 78k miles and i changed all apart hubs, even my quick rack steering was leaking.
You have rust on subframes and all parts around, needs new plus new bushings and most possibly underbody restoration, sills arches ,turrets, fuel tank neck ,look under front window, rear window etc.
It's not an insult to Your car just advise.
I spent a lot but did 70% myself.

What a bodge! And what a bodger!(Not you....)
I'd be very uneasy about driving around with incorrect wheels; that hub centre being oversize needs sorting, esp if you're taking your son out in it.
Before shelling out on new tyres, get some correct wheels...tho' dunno about those Prodrive calipers.....
hope you bought it with your eyes wide open!.... Plenty of advice available on here what to look out for and what to avoid..

New tyres on and went for a drive and no rubbing - cheers for the brilliant advice And they don;t look anywhere near as bad as I was expecting - was thinking elastic bands and they aren't at all
Now for the cam cover gasket Monday...

Imagine taking a son in a 25y old car with leaking engine , rusty underside-those stout mounts will crack in first quick corner,no spigot rings on wheels, dead subframes, rotten sills,4 different tyres etc
