Default WRX Bugeye Lowering Advice

Hi,

Currently I have Apex Gen2 coilovers on my WRX Bugeye which I have been running with for over four years.

They are incredibly hard and the car is not fun to drive and I want to switch to something that keeps the car low with good handling.

Does anyone have any suggestions (nothing mega expensive please)? One idea was to go with Eibach springs and KYB shocks however it seems Eibach do not make springs for the Bugeye any more and TEIN might be an alternative option.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Nick D

First thought - wonder if there's any of these left anywhere?

Prodrive 44S/D5/002 sti bugeye spring set.

Have they really got any?: (I emailed them - no they haven't)
http://www.xtrem-parts.ch/store/prod...roducts_id=315

Then matching STI capable bugeye struts:

KYB Front Right Shock Absorber - Premier Quality Replacement - Ultra SR 321006 | eBay

KYB Front Left Shock Absorber - Premier Quality Replacement - Ultra SR 321007 | eBay

KYB Rear Right Shock Absorber IMPREZA 321008 | eBay

KYB Rear Left Shock Absorber - Premier Quality Replacement - Ultra SR 321009 | eBay

You could spend £80 less on the struts if you went for the bugeye wrx versions, but then you've still got the problem of finding a Prodrive 44S/D5/001 wrx spring set. Which, from the sound of it, wouldn't be low enough for your liking anyway.

What's your definition of low?

4 x KYB Excel-G shocks (WRX OEM)
4 x PCA Dynamics springs
Refresh all the bushes/droplinks etc

Slightly stiffer rear ARB if you like.

I thought about that.
His bug is lighter than the blob/hawk, that the pca springs were designed for, so will sit higher on those springs - might be an issue for the op?

If I were the op, and can't get the prodrive bug sti springs, I'd get these on offer £90 + £50 postage (specify fedex not dhl), to match the bug sti struts listed above:

RS-R Suspension Set - Down Type Subaru Impreza GDA GDB - RHDJapan

Kyb 910072 - rear bug dust boots with the shorter blob/hawk rear bump stops.
KYB Rear Dust Cover Kit, shock absorber FORESTER 910072 | eBay

2 x Febest sbshb-b10f front dust boots

2 x Febi 27848 - front bump stops - use dome side up

Quite possibly. Won't really know the drop until fitted though. If the ride height is vital from an aesthetic point of view, it will have to be coil-overs, as it's the only way of getting accurate adjustment.

I have a Bug wagon and more than happy with the drop, although handling/ride was always paramount - wouldn't have cared if the height stayed the same.
