Default Bilstein b14 or Kw variant 1/st xta

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum, I bought my first impreza 2 months ago, a 2005 wrx sti wide track(blobeye) to be precise! I absolutely love it(except the fuel bills) but I'm knocking on 3 corners now, I'm led to believe that it's probably the original shocks, so considering know one makes aftermarket front shocks for the wide track models it looks like I'm going to have to get a good quality set of coilovers.

I've done quite a bit of research on various forums and Facebook and I can't really decide which to choose of the above, I've got about £1000+fitting to spend, Kw and bilstein seem to be the ones around that price everyone talks about. The car is just used as a fast road car for evenings and weekends, I have no plans to track it.

Any advice would be great!

Thanks, Tom.

You can put Koni inserts in the front strut housing.

The instructions will mention shortening the housing. You won't need to do that as the inverted housing, that you have, is already a shorter type.

Knock off the top seal.
Knock out inner seal.
Check for intruding weld left in the tube, particularly toward the bottom - Regardless, run a hone or flap wheel down the tube.
File paint off the 3 locating lugs, toward the top of the insert.

Then use Febi 27848 bump stops - dome side up.

Thanks for the replies! I'm swaying towards bilstein tbh, from what I've read they seem more suited for UK roads. I really wouldn't know were to start as for using koni inserts, is it a difficult job?

Speak to Simon at chevron of Stafford.
He can build custom B14 kit that has extra droop and bump travel, much more suited for uk roads and they cost no more than the standard B14's

Think you should make a detailed Diy with pictures, could be very helpful for people with failing dampers.

I binned my fronts as the bottom nut and shaft were past it. And I donated my rears to K3ogh_sti.

Maybe some of the traders have a few spare..
