BC Racing BR Series Coilovers
Hi, I'm looking around for a decent set of coilovers and have come across the BC Racing BR series ones that seem to be a good price.
Anyone got any good or bad feedback on these coilovers?
Car is a classic running about 350 bhp and is used as a weekend fast road car
Thanks

Nothing wrong with BC coilovers i have been using them for years now, they are better coilovers out there to be had,but for the money the BC'S are not to shabby at all especially once they have been setup right and the correct spring rate picked for your desired driving use and comfort from the start, then you should be all smiles.SJ.

I'm running a set on my Classic and bought an STI with them on. As said there are far better on the market but they fit a within a certain budget so are very popular, personally I'm happy enough with mine for the money.
If you do buy a set make sure you grease the McPherson mounts before fitting or expect them to seize up after a few years as I've found out on the blob. I'm in the middle of refubing mine now and found it a bit of a ball ache, all of which you can find on my thread in the Welsh section.

mine are being fitted at the moment, I got them for a good price - cheaper than I would've got replacement shocks and springs so we'll see how we get on with them.
The garage that's installing and setting them up for me is a BC reseller and they use them on their own competition cars so they couldn't be all bad?

Go for Miester r,s. My p1 is on Miesters and the ride quality is very good. Well impressed with them. They are adjustable from soft to hard by 32 clicks. A lot better than my mates classic on bc's. Handling is good as wel and i haven't even had a proper geo setup yet.

I've had BC's before, and for the money found them to be alright. It just depends exactly what you want from your suspension and what benefits suit you specifically.
HSD's are another very good option I've had a few sets on various cars and found them to be comfortable, robust, and plenty of adjustability.

If the P1 uses 34N/mm/27.5N/mm springs - regarded as optimum for a UK B-road blast.
Those rates equate to 3.47/2.8 in coil-over parlance - can you obtain coil-over springs in those rates? Why does the coil-over default spring rate appear to be 6/5?
What am I missing, that makes coil-overs superior, for a weekend road toy?

Personally I'm not sure but they do look the same as the BC's albeit the spring pans and locking collars look a better design on the Meisters.

There are members on here who are convinced that the Meister R's are made in the same factory as the BC's and rebranded under a different name.

I run KW V1s with whiteline C Max adjustable top mounts.
Call Alyn from AS Performance and he will get you the top mounts at a good price as he has some on offer : D .
I was in the same boat as you were with considering meister r or BC. And I was lucky to find some second hand KW's with like....500 miles on them if that lol ...for 500 pound!
Definitely the way to go if you can find some!

Agreed, if you're going to buy coilovers you really want to buy decent coilovers. At which point is it really worth spending the extra money for KWs (or similar) on a road car?
I've got BCs on my hawk and I've come to the conclusion they really don't feel like the springs and dampers are working together. The adjustment on the damper only seems to go between hard and back breaking and the springs themselves seem to be to stiff, so the car tends to 'crash' on rough roads. Which isn't particularly confidence inspiring, especially on a car which is supposed to be renowned for it's road handling.

The point at which it was worth it for me was when one of my rear standard shocks was knocking : D
BUT
I think its got to be KW v1's for coilovers or maybe some billstein sruts or the KYB's.
Something decent.
For me that was the choice because I want to keep my classic long term, and more importantly it sees track time as well as fast road/evenings out/weekend use.
I have my bugeye WRX for a daily which is fine for that role. But sometimes on an early morning on an empty road I would take my Type R to work and I love having a good suspension setup, with a few other mods i.e. roll bars , drop links, arb mounts, ALK, etc.....
It makes it a ton of fun to drive. And I think still fairly reasonable for a road car that doesn't get used daily.
I think BC and Meister R are good for the money, ala what StonedJedi has said. You really cannot fault them IF YOU GET THE SETUP RIGH!!
But if you want to make more of an investment in your car, you might want to consider the way I went.
