2004 WRX estate Front O/S lower wishbone / control arm needed
Hi
My front O/S lower wishbone decided to let go last night on a dual carriageway.
Struggling to find a replacement as I am told the estate cars had steel control arms NOT alloy. I can only find alloy. Or can I change both sides to alloy - are they an identical part but simply different material??
Any recommendations of where I can try?
Already had a good look on ebay / internet and not having any joy.
Thought someone on here may be able to help.
Thanks in advance

Hi - had the same problem happen last night on the M4 :-(
Did you get anywhere with deciding where you can get a new one ?. I have just started looking into this but is does seem that the alloy is not an option to replace steel ? Mine is a wagon and this seems to be a factor.

Alloy arms have increased castor but contrary to popular belief, do not widen the track.
This was demonstrated to me by Matty at MB Dev when I went down there last. I bought a set for my car that I never got around to using. They will be up for sale soon. You would have to change your front ARB to a saloon item if you change the arms, so take that into account too.

Yeah, that's exactly what the recall was about, see link:

I would have thought Subaru would do both sides, also push for a full 4 wheel alignment after it's done (if not offered) seen as it failed and should have been done under recall.
