Default SOLD 2.5l Impreza WRX STi3 V-Limited Wagon No. 274 of 555 (1997)

Short Advert:
Impreza WRX STi 3 V-Ltd with all usual refinements and extras over and above the standard models

photos available on http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3826500.htm

4 pot front callipers,
vented discs all round
close ratio (short box)
strut brace
uprated suspension
STi interior and bucket seats

Additionally it has had:

2.5l US STi short block
Knocklink
H&S 3" open neck stainless downpipe
3" Power Engineering stainless cat (rated to 400bhp)
Walbro 255l fuel pump
Apexi Power FC and Commander (standalone mapable ecu - STi3 ecu can't be mapped unfortunately).
Hybrid vf23 turbo (Bob Rawle)
Harvey Smith ported headers and stainless up pipe,
H&S stainless back box

Recent maintenance has included:

rec-conditioned 4pot callipers
radiator,
power steering cooler (now alloy rather than steel)
maf,
lambda sensor.

Can come with either 2003 vintage 17" STi wheels and good Toyo's or original 16" 5 spoke wheels with Dunlop winter tyres (it then becomes very usable in the snow) - both sets of wheels could be negotiated.

Now for the bad points (there have to be a few after all it is 13/14 years old):

lacquer peeling on bonnet scoop
stone chips as expected,
hole on drivers seat boulster - expected at that age
faded dashboard
rust bubbling on both rear arches.

Up for sale as kids now too tall to fit in the back and bought a Grand Cherokee so it's not getting used.

Long advert (more info and history)
When I first saw this car I didn't know what I had stumbled upon! Checking out sites like those below confirmed that it was special and had most things already done to it by the factory that I'd want to do;

4 pot front callipers,
vented discs all round
close ratio (short box)
strut brace
uprated suspension
STi interior and bucket seats (the most comfortable I've ever been in)
and much more!

The car was imported in 2000 and I bought it in 2003 and remained standard for many years apart from uprated brake pads, a knocklink and a 3" stainless sports cat (as it arrived without one!).

After a big end failure (at around 110,000km or so - now at 242,000km ish) my plans for the car had to change.

It was rebuilt with a brand new US STi 2.5l short block by Zen Performance with additionally:

H&S 3" open neck stainless downpipe
Walbro 255l fuel pump
Apexi Power FC and Commander (standalone mapable ecu - STi3 ecu can't be mapped unfortunately).
Hybrid vf23 turbo (Bob Rawle)

This only produced about 290 bhp and 310ft.lb but the power curve flattened at about 4500rpm, stifled by the standard STi back box _ it was seriously rapid though!

After that it was treated to;

Harvey Smith ported headers and stainless up pipe,
H&S stainless back box - quiet enough for the neighbours but howls at wot.

No current power measurements, however after the above additions a further re-map (98/9 ron) made a significant difference, so I'd suggest low to mid 300's - however it was mapped for everyday longevity, torque and driveability, not out and out power, as it's more than fast enough.

Up for sale as kids now too tall to fit in the back and bought a Grand Cherokee so it's not getting used (only 1200 miles between the last mot and the current last week). Having used it a few times in the last weeks I forgotten how much I liked it and how effortless the performance is - but I have to be realistic and cant afford to run 2 big everyday cars now.

Now for the bad points (there have to be a few after all it is 13/14 years old):

lacquer peeling on bonnet scoop
stone chips as expected,
hole on drivers seat boulster - expected at that age
faded dashboard
rust bubbling on both rear arches.

Very fast, practicle and reliable everday car £2495 ono
