Default 1997 Version 4 White Type R

NOW SOLD !!

First off let me say that the price does not mean this is a dog, I've valued it to realistically sell in the current market as I have found another car I want. This is currently the cheapest Type R on Autotrader and Pistonheads.

1997 Version 4 STI Type R, 2 owners from import, 1st owner pretty much owned it to import and sell. I've owned it for the past 4 years and its only ever been a weekend driver.

130K on the clock but 120 was in km, then 10K in miles, so approx 81K miles.

12 months MOT but no tax.

Bottom end spun a shell after 2K miles of my ownership so its had a full rebuild including an uprated oil pump and has 8K on fresh build, just run in basically ! and it is a red top STI engine although most of the paint has flaked off as they do !

Dyno sheet from Eurospec Jap Specialist shows a decent and reliable 293.3bhp. Couple this non stressed powerplant with the Group N gearbox and you have a 0-60 of around 4.5 seconds !

Usual spec of all electrics, which all work, and include climate control. DCCD diff controller which allows transfer of power between front and rear bias and standard I/C water spray.

Bodywork, interior and mechanics are all good. There is a small dented area on the NSR quarter panel and a small crack in the paint on the rear bumper but these are honestly small and generally un-noticable. The interior has one small mark on the drivers seat but other than its perfect !

Modifications include:

Cat 1 Viper alarm and immobiliser with built in turbo timer.
Cusco fully adjustable coilovers and adjustable top mounts.
Full Japspeed S/S exhaust system including 4-1 manifold, up pipe, down pipe, basically the only original part of the exhaust system is the turbo !
Large Alloy radiator as standard one sprung a leak, water temps never get overly hot even in traffic !
Stainless mesh unbranded induction kit.
18" Rota wheels professionally finished in amazingly stylish STI pink, with 225/35/18 Falken tyres.
Interior sound has been made slightly better with Alpine components in the front and some real dodgy looking Kenwood 3 ways on the parcel shelf (installed before my ownership!).
Prosport guages for the essentials - Oil Pressure, oil temp, water temp and boost.
There are also 2 x 9" sun visor TV screens installed although they aren't connected to anything but you could easily add a TV tuner or games console.

This is honestly a well looked after toy of mine that I've loved for 4 years (although admittedly I prefer to drive it than wash it on a sunday morning !) and I'll happily allow any AA/RAC inspection and/or test drive with proper insurance as I believe the drive will speak for itself. The only reason for sale is because I'm getting old and fancy something a bit less rally spec

Bear in mind that I think this is an excellent price for what you will get and ultimately I don't need to sell it so the price there is the least I will take for it so please no silly offers.

Further pics and details available on request.

Not guilty I'm afraid

The vinyl can easily be removed and I can get the wheels resprayed for roughly £200.

The wheels will cost a buyer less to spray than that... just saying good luck.. looks a fair price to me

These weren't just refurbed tho, they were properly painted to the same level as you would for bodywork, it was the cheapest around I could find but if you can get cheaper then even better for a buyer

A friend of mine who has been building engines and cars for over 18 years now did it, he doesn't have premises or a business as such but he has worked on more cars than most garages I know !

I've trusted him on all my cars and so have many of my friends with their performance cars so although he's not a known business the drive will speak for itself.

TBH it's probably the colour of the wheels putting people off. Nothing wrong with the car or the wheels themselves but I wouldn't buy a car with pink wheels. Great looking car apart from that

If I didn't also have my M3 yes. It's not badly priced, it just needs different coloured wheels

OK, I really would like to get another car now so I've dropped the price again. This really is the cheapest one around and I don't know what more I can do short of giving it away !!

Right, lets just be clear. When I say 'No silly offers', please dont call me with silly offers ! and if you're not sure that means anything starting with a '3' is a silly offer !
