51 plate Subaru Impreza 2000 turbo AWD wagon
SOLD
The time has come to sell my pride and joy as the money is needed elsewhere.
It's one of the last made in the classic shape on a 51 plate.
Now, so you don't read the whole ad then get to any bad bits I'll post the bad first.
On cold start up there is a knock for about a second from what I believe to be the piston slap.
This doesn't happen every time and when it had it's oil change it stopped for about 1000 miles on the new oil. My plans were to fit an STI 7 or 8 bottom end. There is one on here for sale at £500 although it will probably never need changing if it's looked after.
The rear discs need replacing but the front are new, only covering around 1300 miles.
The rear bumper is from a 96 which I bought from ebay as someone slid into me at slow speed in the snow causing the paint to flake on the original bumper. There is no damage to the car and I still have the original bumper just needing some paint. I was waiting to by Sti rear spoilers before having them sideskirts & bumper
painted.
That's it for the bad. The full spec is listed below.
Was £3000, now I'm after £2500 ovno for her which I think is very reasonable considering the age & spec.
She's covered 91'700 miles and has been over serviced with loads of receipts and 2 key fobs.
MOT is May 2012 & Tax is due Oct.
Chassis modifications:
Brembo front brake conversion, with Braketech groved discs & Kevlar pads on the front and Godspeed grooved discs on the back with DS2500 pads and braided brake lines all round
18ins Inovit Tarmac's in white with Falken FK 452 215/40/18 tyres
Whiteline 22mm anti-roll bars front and rear (rear adjustable) with alloy droplinks
Whiteline anti-lift kit
Front Upper Strut Brace
BC Racing Coilovers: BR Series Type RH (Fast road geometry set up)
Ultralite Black Internal Drive Hardened Alloy Lug Nuts + lockers.
Engine modifications:
Zerosports intercooler splitter
Ramair oiless panel filter
Samco intercooler hoses
VF30 turbo (JDM STI)
Ported headers
RCM 3ins sports cat downpipe
Magnex 2.5ins centre section (resonated) and backbox (nice noise, not too loud)
Fuelab adjustable FPR
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Uprated all aluminium radiator
Excedy stage 1 clutch and lightened flywheel (5.75Kg)
EcuTek remap of ECU by JollyGreenMonster to 300bhp (1.35 Bar)
Millers 10/40 fully synthetic oil and filter change 1200 miles ago
Some of my most resent pictures at the Colin Mcrae weekender in Wales.
Thanks for looking.

Piston slap fella. Nothing to worry about.
I was going to say that £3k for a classic wagon with a knocking engine was a bit rich!
But that is completely harmless. Although many companies will say, 'Oh no sir, that is your big ends. New engine I am afraid.'
Had this happen when I sold my old scooby. Buyer txt me the next morning after driving it home to say the engine knocked when cold (Even though he heard before he bought it .) And that TSL motorsport said it needed a rebuild. He sold it quick but I stumbled across the next owner on here.....some 20,000 miles after he bought it....with the same engine still going strong.

what model year is this one? Piston slap only occurred on wrxs built from september 1996 to september 1998 (the 'E' models). This was due to pistons with short skirts (snuk snuk) becoming ovalled because of slower warming and expansion of cylinder 3 exerting a small 'crushing' effect. Longer pistons were used on the later models and piston slap didn't develop.
If it's not the 'E' model then the noise possibly is the big end. Though difficult to tell for sure from the video, it doesn't sound like mine which has obvious piston slap. Should be especially heard over piston 3 which i think is the one closest to the passenger. Should be very obvious when cold and disappear completely when warm on a car with that mileage.

It's not a WRX it's a uk 2000 turbo.
So it can't be either piston slap or big ends then as it clears as soon as it starts. As I said for about a second.
I don't know. To be honest though this is turning out to be a rubbish advert.
Try and be honest but put people off. Anyone would think I didn't really want to sell it.

£2500.00 ovno will take her.
I also have a Mercedes A210 Evolution for sale on an 02 plate with 81,700 miles on the clock with service history although she is due a service and a pair of front disc's. That taken into account £2750.00 ovno.
Thank you.

Mot is until 6th June 2012 and the Tax is due December 2011.
Service history isn't the best. 5 Stamps from Mercedes Benz. 10,024 20,862 29,801 51,665 & 57,724 The person i bought it from said he done his servicing himself but you never know he may have lied. He was a car enthusiast though, he had a 911, Wrangler jeep and he just bought a brand new Audi TDi s line which replaced the A210 for his wife.
I would say she is a lovely car inside & out but it is a 9 year old car now and has some stone chips and a couple carpark dings.
I'm not to bothered if this one doesn't sell as she makes a lovely family car and looks stunning. If it doesn't sell then as soon as the cash is available she will have a full service with everything thrown at it. Cambelt, bushes, brakes etc and I would also like to get her resprayed, not that she needs it but as a future classic being quite rare she deserves it.
I my honest opinion, It's be used as a family car and is in good condition but not a minter.
I would recommend anyone to view but Yorkshire in my opinion is a bit far.
All the photo's I have at the moment from the previous owner. Will take some up to date ones soon although there's only been 2000 odd miles since these were taken.
