MY04 WRX PPP LPG
***** NOW SOLD *****
My LPG project is up for sale! HPI Clear!
It is a nice (December) 54 reg 2004 WRX with Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) fitted by Cross Roads Subaru at 42k in 2007.
Full Service History is included from Cross Roads who have looked after it since new.
API rebuilt the engine a few months / 3000 miles ago. It had the usual crank, bearings, uprated oil pump etc etc. Sounds very sweet and makes all the right noises.
At the same time it also had a new clutch, N/S wheel bearing and front pads.
See my project thread for lots of pictures in, under and around it here:
https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...kunkworks.html
I bought it as a project car to convert to LPG as per the link above. It is completely standard except for the PPP and LPG conversions.
The LPG conversion is fully documented and certified. The LPG installation itself is guaranteed for 24 months from date of fitting. It does 350 to 370 miles on a tank of LPG which costs £53.
Tax costs £10 less than usual and if you register it with TFL you don't have to pay the London congestion charges!
The interior is in very good shape. Doesn't appear to have been smoked in. Has original Subaru mats. Boot trim is a little on the tatty side.
There are a couple of parking scuffs here and there but it has never seen paint. Has 4 decent tyres.
Taxed and MOT for 6 months. 85,000 miles.
I'm asking £4,850 ono. Send me a PM. Car located in Basingstoke during the week and I'm usually on the road some where at weekends.
Time to move it on and make room for the next car!
Edit: This car comes with full Subaru Service History as per my post @ 17!!

Hi there,
I bought the car from API with the new engine already installed so I don't have receipts for the work done. Give API David a call and he will tell you all about it. He has been following my threads.
I was worried about valves burning out on LPG and asked David to make sure the heads were properly overhauled. So he gave them the usual API treatment and took these pictures for me. And yes it had a new cam belt fitted!!
I'm the 4th owner. The car came from a Subaru dealer with the usual knackered bottom end, sold on to API who fixed it up and then on to me.
It was serviced by the dealer just before the bottom end went!!! The owner just gave it up and so I don't have any paperwork with it. BUT it has been with the same dealer all it's life and was (allegedly) dealer maintained. I'll call the service manager today and see if I can get a print out.
I wrote to the previous owner last week asking if he has any paperwork... hopefully I'll hear back.
As you know the big worry on these cars is the bottom end... which is all shiny and new.

Forgot to answer the niggles question! I'm picking up a new multi-valve on Sunday during the LPG open day in Newport. It's only a 30 minute job... the long part is running the tank dry! So the answer is - it will be by the time someone buys it!

Just answered the niggles question while you were typing this reply.
No, I'm not a fan of dynos. I killed my other impreza on one!
If I blind folded you I'd put good money on you not being able to tell whether we were cooking on LPG or petrol!

Service history situation is better than I had hoped. It has been with Cross Roads all its life. The chap I spoke to said it should be no problem to get a print out. I'm waiting for a call from the service department.
In the mean time here is a page from the service book:

Ha Ha EXCELLENT!! I just got an email from the previous owner. So I now have 2 sets of keys!
------------------
Westwood2006,
I gave the documentation to the driver who delivered the new car to me from Crossroads Garage. It never re-appeared.
I hide the spare keys so well that I could not find them. I now have, after a further search, and I've posted them by recorded delivery.
That's a rip-off price for new keys!
My previous car had more character than the new model WRX.
best wishes,
Martin

Ha. Yes I am fussy.
She's pretty much good to go. The only thing I'd do if I was keeping it would be to change the rear shocks because they knock some times (does my head in TBH).
Searching around here this seems to be a fairly common thing on blobs.
API David says it's almost pointless changing them because they will only start knocking again. There's a thread on here where someone took them apart and re-greased them. This seemed to cure it.

I did engage Bob Rawle who says the standard WRX PPP would be good for 270 bhp and 300-310lb/ft ish. It would cost £475 and you have to drive to his place Swindon.
He is an awesome mapper. I've been taking my other car to him for about 5 years now.
LPG has an octane rating of 110 ish... so it would be an interesting trail to blaze.

Okay no problem just thought that maybe the car would have to be remapped to suit the different fuel just as some cars have to be when they come in from japan to run on uk fuel - this correct ??!!
what power would you estimate your car having just now with the PPP fitted ?? 240 perhaps ?? the ppp certificate with the car ??

The LPG ECU is "mapped on top of" the OEM ECU for want of a better expression.
The OEM ECU still controls everything but when running on LPG the LPG ECU intercepts the injector signals and introduces LPG instead of petrol. You just have to adjust the amount of LPG introduced versus what the OEM ECU is demanding to keep things right.
The LPG ECU is connected to pin 6 of the OBD port to read various stuff including lambda. This helps to keep the mixture correct. The OEM ECU doesn't notice and everything ticks along nicely.
Up to a point the OEM ECU will try to compensate if the mixture becomes too rich or weak eventually throwing on the engine light.
Detonation isn't a worry because the RON rating of LPG is higher than petrol.
Check out my project thread for more info about how it is set up.
Yeah. 240/240 is about right for PPP. Like I said I don't have any paperwork with the car. But it has been with Crossroads all it's life. I'm still waiting for a call as previously mentioned. Cross roads should be able to confirm.

Cool, so now I have FULL SUBARU SERVICE HISTORY!!
Just got a call back from Crossroads. They fitted the PPP on 13-11-2007 when the car was on 42,426 miles. It cost £1,600 back then!
I'm just waiting for the previous owner to confirm that I am indeed the current owner and I can get a full print out of the history mailed to me.

Just received the service history print out from Cross Roads Subaru. I have everything from 0 miles to the 80k service. It has had £,8115 plus VAT spent on servicing!!!!! Jesus H Christ on a bike!
I also found the PPP certificate hiding in with the service booklet.
It turns out is also had a tracker fitted in 2009. I'm trying to get the info for that as well.

Robbing b@stards. They insist of charging £85 for an engineer to come and check it out, £50 reconnection and £139 annual fee. £274 total!! They say the model is already obsolete.
If I was keeping the car I'd rip it out. Who would want their car back if it was stolen anyway?
Anyhoooo, I have all the info so it's up to the new owner to do what they want with it.
