Default 2002 Impreza WRX, 71k

SOLD - Good luck to new owner, enjoy it

2nd time owning this car, bought it again a few months back now i don't lift share to work anymore so unfortunately having to sell it again..

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX in WRC blue with 71,500 miles on the clock (Car is being daily driven so this will rise slightly). Comes with full service history and receipts for all work done, including wheel alignment and cambelt change. As far as I know the car has only ever been run on Shell Vpower. There is a slight graze on the rear bumper and on the passenger side wing mirror, both of which were there when I bought the car but I’ve just not had the time to sort them. Expect the usual stone chips and marks of a 12 year old car.

MOT valid until June 9th 2015, last MOT passed with no advisories. Cambelt done at 50124 miles. Comes with two keys, one being an original remote key, the other a copy non-remote, and one alarm fob.

Will more than likely get the MOT done before the sale just for peace of mind of both parties.

-Resonator box removed and air ducted from original position and the inner wing.
-Prodrive straight through exhaust up-pipe cat replacement.
-Prodrive second straight through exhaust CAT replacement.
-Stainless back box with 5" straight cut pipe.
-Front and rear strut brace.
-STI struts and springs.
-EBC yellow stuff brake pads. New set in the front and have another spare set for the rear.
-Recently replaced front brake discs
-Orange indicator lenses in headlights removed (de-tangoed)
-Silver indicator bulbs front and rear.
-Clear side indicator repeaters.
-Black side markers.
-17” WRX wheels with 4 new tyres.
-New car mats and mud flaps.
-Vibe Audio LiteAir 6” speakers fitted in the front. Will come with originals too.
-Recent service which included new filters and spark plugs, along with full wheel alignment.
-Multifunction boost gauge mounted in the drivers side air vent. Displays boost, oil temp, oil pressure, and battery.
-Car will also come with two spare front wheel arch liners, spare rubber door seals, and the drivers side air vent if you wish to remove the gauge.

The car has a Pioneer head unit installed which will not come with the car. If you'd like the headunit we can arrange a price.
Price without headunit is £3500

Hi Dan,

Car looks great and with a good emphasis on chassis mods, which is what I'm after. This will be my first Impreza after owning and modifying other cars previously so looking for something fairly standard to keep the insurance happy.

A couple of questions;

How many owners has the car had?
With the cat removal/replacement pipes, does the car have any cats still present? Does cat removal pose a problem come MOT emissions testing?
Is there a need to map in the removal of the cats and if so, has this been done?
Is the standard dump valve still fitted?
Are the oil temp/oil pressure sensors for the gauge wired in and working?
Any issues with the engine/turbo/transmission? (smoke/clunks etc)
How recent was the service and when is the next one due?

Many thanks,
Andrew.

Hey Andrew,

The car really is a good car it's just unfortunately for my situation it's not ideal i personally have not done any of the mods to the car myself and on my insurance i don't think the mods made any difference (With Chris Knott)

1. I believe the car has had 11 owners myself being 2 of the 11 and a friend who had it for 8 months between my ownerships being a 3rd. I honestly couldn't say why it has had so many.

2. Since i've known the car (2 MOT's) the hasn't been any problems with emissions. The advert written up is based on previous sale threads for the car so i can't answer this question super accurately i'm afraid. But when i had it MOT'd and my friend whom i sold it to and lift shared with had it MOT'd it went through 100% fine with no problems.

3. This probably follows on from my previous question as i didn't do the cat removal myself and as far as i'm away the map on the car is standard. If there is a way to tell if the car has been mapped i'd happily check that out for you.

4. As far as i'm aware the dump valve is standard.

5. Yes the gauge was done very recently before my 1st purchase of the car, it's what i use everytime i drive it to know when i can start letting the revs get near the turbo (80 degrees oil temp). My friend had the temperature sensors replaced as they were previously not working.

6. The only issue the i currently know of on the car is a knocking rear strut which i was going to get sorted when i get i get it MOT'd prior to sale.

7. The last service was at 68620 miles. It had an oil change (Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40) with an OEM filter.

If you have any more questions feel free to hit me up, i also work with my friend so he would be free to answer any questions i can't answer myself as well!

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the reply. I've found some of the previous threads and might drop Pete a quick PM to get a little more history on the car as I am very interested.

I've been insured with CK on my current car (modified Rover 420 Turbo) previously but they won't touch me on an Impreza as their underwriter requires the car to be owned for 12 months previous.

That all sounds really good, any chance of a couple of engine bay pictures and I hope it's not too much trouble, but a video clip of the engine from a cold start?

Many thanks.

Hey Andrew,

That would probably be best Pete was a really nice guy and i know he did the gauge by the steering wheel so he may have done a few more of the bits. The oldest for sale thread i found for the car (At least i think it's the car) is http://www.scoobycity.co.uk/forums/f...ye-Impreza-WRX which is where i got most of the listing from.

As far as insurance goes i got told the same thing so had to go elsewhere for a year. I suppose it makes sense as they want experienced drivers.

I can get you a couple engine bay pictures before i leave work as well as the video.

Thanks,
Dan

Brilliant, thanks Dan. All looking and sounding good as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, just a few more questions (sorry!), you mention it had a service at 68,000 miles, do you know when the other fluids (coolant/brake/gearbox/diff) are due?

Also, what tyres does the car have?

Thanks once again! I'd be travelling from the North West so just want to get as much detail as I can, hope you understand
