Default Opinions please! To wrap or not?

Hi. I have a v5 type r I silver. I'm thinking of having it all wrapped in matte grey with gloss black spoiler and black p1 splitter. Reason being is that it needs abit of body work to be done..so I was thinking it would be cheaper to have the car prept then sent off for wrap? Plus I think it would pretty good. Or get the bodywork sorted?

Just paint it, by the time you've paid for the prep and the wrap it will cost roughly the same, everything need to be sorted bodywork wise before wrapping or it will show through.

Wrapping it highlights any inprefections on the paintwork...

Very nice looking car BTW!

Plus wrapping it a matte colour will be out of fashion in 12 months, and then you'll have to get it wrapped again, and potentially repair any shoddy workmanship (scalpel marks anyone?). If you want putting off getting a wrap, search on the Edition38 forums for all the bodged wraps that one firm repair.

A decent wrap is approx £1200-1500 from what I've researched (from somewhere Id trust to wrap my pride and joy, you could take your chances with the £900 boys if you wanted but Ive seen the results), and a respray from memory is approx £1500-£2000... So really, its a lot of money, but its not that much different really. Personally Id go for a less fashionable colour in paint. But it depends how deep your pockets are.

dont ruin it with crap mods its a nice car, youre on the slippery slope to wrc graphics, lexarse lights and fake roof vents otherwise.

it looks very nice now just spend the money on a decent respray on the bits that need it.

Both my arches need sorting, my roof and my bonnet. There is a couple of second hand bonnets in the same colour on eBay but they are of a turbo 2000s so they are a heavier bonnet, plus I don't want to get rid of the alloy bonnet. I think it will cost around £450-500 to get sorted. Has anybody wrapped certain parts of theirs? And have u any pics?

Mate it will cost a damed sight more than £500 if you want a proper job that will last more than one winter.

I'd hate to see it after it had a £500 quid "sorting"

But hey it's your car so wrap away.

as above the arches rot from the inside out and not easy to sort properly.
also wrapping still shows all the bubbles etc underneath so the bodywork still needs to be flat and smooth.

The reason I'm saying around £500 is that my brother in law ownes a bodyshop so will do it alot cheaper. Whereas other body shops will charge around £500 just for the arches.
Ther are bubbles on the arches, but not as bad as I've seen them on other scoobs, I know they rot from the inside out but do u have to cut the arches out and weld new ones in? Or can it be sorted without doing that in most cases?

There's a few blobs near wrapped matt black, the oldest one has only been wrapped for about 18 months, looks terrible now, losing its colour, lots greyish white bits on it that make it look dirty.
