HID's on a Subaru advise
Looking to buy a set of HID's for the blob. Question is do people with a blob tend to buy 2 kits for both the dipped and main beams or is 1 kit sufficient for the main beam only.
Will it look silly when the both the dipped and main beams are on but the main beams are HIDS and the dipped is standard bulbs.
Reason for change is as we all know the main beams brightness is terrible in these cars so something like a 4300k is what I am thinking.
Cheers

You can do either: start with the main beam, then do the dips, or do both at once.
If the dips are OK, leave them.
Some advice:
1. HID retrofit are now illegal and an MoT fail (wrong bulbs in the light unit, incompatible). Bear this in mind when fitting. Some MoT stations till pass them....or you could keep the old bulbs and make the wiring an easy changeover for MoT.
2. If buying a set, look for quality, NOT low price. You DO get what you pay for.
3. If buying TWO sets, get them from the same place and buy the same colour temperature bulbs, or they won't match
4. When fitting, DO make the wiring as neat and tidy as possible, and use waterproof connectors/covers where possible. There is a tendency to fit sloppily "just to check they work", then leave it sloppy and just shove it out of the way. Lots of faults on retrofits are due to poor/sloppy wiring, or water ingress.
5. Check that the ballasts are waterproof, if not, waterproof them yourself.
Edited to say: yes, 4300K if you can get them, no more than 5000K if you can't
