Default Current WRX STI Saloon Rear Spoiler

I'm going to fit a spoiler to my STi as the link below but I've heard rumours/stories that the boot on the current saloon isn't strong enough to take the pressure, does anyone know anything about this? I saw a saloon in France last week which had obviously had the spoiler fitted and the boot was in a real bad way but then I saw plenty of others with it fitted and there didn't seem to be an issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The bootlid fitted originally has the double skin stiffener with cutouts for the WRX low level spoiler.

If you are going to fit the genuine high level spoiler it is advisable to replace the bootlid as well as the torsion bars to account for the extra weight.

If you are fitting the HTAuto high level spoiler I think Mark made it to fit the original bootlid.

Hi,

Do not worry, our spoiler is a lot lighter and fits in a different way. One of the bolts goes through the double skin, so avoiding a stronger boot lid

Thanks for the replies guys. The spoiler has been ordered through my Subaru dealer (but they havn't been a dealer for long and they didnt think the boot would need changing.. hence the question) so it would be the genuine subaru high level one.

your dealer cant order just the high level spoiler with out ordering the boot lid as the two parts are sold together due to warranty implications of the std boot lid not being strong enough for the job.

theyve probs ordered the low level one
