Default advice on scooby paint and bird crap please...

the car park at my place of work seems to be a bombing range for seagulls and consequently my car gets covered at least once a fortnight. the trouble is that when the sun is out it gets baked on and even though i wash the car as soon as i get home, it leaves marks in the paint.
is there anything you know of to get rid of these marks?

if i could sit outside with a gun / tank then my car would never get crapped upon but my question is......
how do you get rid of the marks after washing the car?

cheers all, will try the wipes and detailer.
will these remove the 'stains' that are left after the car has been washed?

no they wont, the gull shat is acidic and burns the finnish, you need to protect it with a good wax mate,
to get rid of the marks you will need a very mild cutting compound/polish

ps, shotgun is my preferred method

Just get it mopped buddy, gets rid of all bird poo burns, light to medium scratches and brings your paint up like new. You can buy a decent mop for around £90 from sealey, then you just need some compound like G3 or possibly even T-cut. Takes a bit of practice but you cant really go wrong as long as you remember to keep the head moist at all times.
Once mopped just keep on top of it with decent wax, autoglym hd is good.

thanks for the info.
i have a rotary and compound but i was just a bit unsure as i've heard the scooby paint is wafer thin.
i have just cut and polished the areas and it has taken out the stains.
also just found out that a coat of Zymol, a coat of Turtlewax colourfast and then Mer speed detailer with spray on sine on the top really makes the car gleam.

No worries fella, yeah I heard that to. Mine was painted 6 months ago so I can really go to town on it with the mop. That said a friend has just picked up a mica black classic that has been sat exposed to the elements for 7 years, the laquer had gone nasty on every panel to the point of starting to turn white! He has been hand and machine cutting it every evening for the past week, going over each panel several times and its coming out good as new. It just needs a good couple layers of decent wax now, think thats the key really. My old Jag used to get treated to a waxing every week, after a month or so the bird poo would just come right off with a sponge and leave no marks plus the water would just bead up nicely.
