Default Painting dipstick and caps

I really hate the yellow bits in the engine bay and plan on painting them.
I have some spray paint in the colour i want and my plan is:
Wash
Light sanding
Primer
Paint
Clear coat

Anyone see any problems attempting this?
Has anyone on here done this?
I guess i'm worried about high temps ruining it.

Firstly, I'd not bother with the light sanding, the paint will key onto the plastic well enough, since it doesn't flex.

Secondly, don't worry about high temperature: the plastics used are excellent insulators, that's why they are in use.

You could use all sorts of enamel paints, spray or brush, Hammerite, PlastiKote, even Humbrol, etc etc.

post some pics of the results.

I took all my yellow bits off, scrubbed them up and refitted them, they look OK, remember they are yellow for a reason: to show which areas need constant checking.

If spraying, remember that several light coats is preferable to one heavy one, and prevents runs/drips.
