Default Spraying the grille?

I've bought a new grille for my car, it's off a 99-00MY.

I need to get it sprayed, or spray it myself.

The rest of the car is tidy, but has some stonechips, marks, and slight discolouration, it's been around 13 years this September.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is, can I spray it myself? Do I need to use colour coat and lacquer, or just one coat?

I'll be cleaning it up and Scotchbriting it before spraying. Is Halfords paint any good? Do they do lacquer?

I MAY buy enough to do a new splitter too.

Halfords paint ,off the shelf is good as they have a decent nozzle.

But the stuff they mix up is ****e.It comes out in splutters and never quite matchs up.

Another option is to pm prodriverules (Ryan) on here and ask him how much he would do it for. I did this recently with my Sti scoop, I just posted it to him and when it was done he sent it back.

I have sprayed many bits on my current and previous scoobs myself and have found that the halfords paint is pretty good but for what Ryan charged me to do it it only cost around £15 more and got a professional finish. It was that good in fact, I am sending a grill off to h soon to be sprayed.

For the sake of a quick pm it couldn't hurt to ask

I found halfords lacquer came out of the can badly, little spots of lacquer would come out when spraying. Never had any problem with there colour matching and found the spray nozzle good on there colour cans.

Agreed. I have used a lot of their on shelf paint and it is good but their mixed paint is diabolical, in fact I cant say how bad it is. Paints4u.com is very very good, better than the Halfords on shelf stuff but it is a little more especially considering their postage rates but I wont use anything else now.

Any paint that comes in a rattle can is **** in my oppinion, its never gonna give same results as a spray gun like sata,devilbiss,etc.... Also 1k clearcoats will fade and chip quicker.
