Default bonnet raisers

I have fitted some of these to my wagon, but I have noticed when fitted there is a gap of about 20mm between the intercooler and the rubber seal. What i need to know is this a problem? will it make much of a difference if there is a gap(I am guessing that most of the air will still be hitting the intercooler)
I know these arent to everybodys taste, but i like them

we could get all technical her i have them too mate, take a picture through your scoop when bonnet is closed and then you will have a rough idea of how much you need to build the gap up, i have ordered some thick foam with a sitcky edge to fit to my tmic so the air won't skip over the top of the ic, simples

yes you need to fill the gap or the air will go round rather than through the IC,
also lifting the rear of the bonnet doesn't let air out as you would expect, at speed air is actually sucked in rather than been pulled out, this can cause problems by 'stalling' the air flowing through from the front of the car ie through the rad, this air flows through rad around the engine and out exiting into the airstream under the car, changing how the air flows through the engine bay can actually reduce cooling efficency rather then increase it,
they do let warm air out when the car isn't moving but IMHO you are better off without them, plus they are deffo 'chav' looking
