bonnet vents question

bonnet vents question
on my subaru 2000 classic the two bonnet vents are missing the back plates so all the water is pissing in over my battery etc. do people often take these backs off?
also rang subaru and they want £41 for the left and £48 for the right?!?!
Anyone point me in the direction of wher ei can get these eitehr a breaker or such?
be very greatful and have money waiting to get these but so far i have either been told to buy the bonnet or they want me to buy the vents with scoop.
