Bugeye WRX styling/detailing project
I took this 2002 Bugeye Impreza as a part exchange on another car I had for sale. Over Christmas I'll spend a few days detailing the car, valeting the interior, cleaning the engine bay and dressing it.
Quick spec list....
Remapped by JGM to 251 BHP
Full Milltek stainless exhaust
18" BuddyClub alloys with new Pirelli P Zero tyres
Morette headlights
Lowered 30 mm on Eibach springs
Seibon carbon fibre front splitter
STI rear spoiler
STI bonnet scoop
and lots lots more.....
The only reason I took a p/ex was the fact that I have known the car for over 3 years and knew how well it was treated.
Over all the car has been very well looked after, it got valeted on a regular 6 monthly basis but has never been detailed before.
I'm looking to change a few things on the car and looking for a few more ideas etc.
1. Change the ZunSports front grilles to black ??
2.Change the polished lip on the rims ? .... 3 choices...
a...polish it and seal it ?
b... polish it and laquer it ?
c...prime it and respray the lip to match the rims ?
3.. Debadge the bootlid ?
4. Keep the splitter or replace it with something else ?
Anything else ???
Surface corrosion around the edge of the rims.
Engine bay to be cleaned.
ZunSports grille to be repainted along with inserts ?
What colour ?? black ?? matt or satin, grey ??

Powder coat the mesh on the grills and the spoiler black and get the wheels done black at the same time, looks great!
heres mine from a few yrs back with the black mesh and cwest front lip.
As it is now with black wheels:
Was going to fit my new C-west front bumper but its now for sale, as is the one in the above pic.

Upper and lower ZunSports grill removed and painted matt black.
Inserts also painted.
How it looks at the minute
This is my other option... replace the carbon splitter with this ?
Need some foglight covers now me thinks ??

Looks better with the black mesh, why not get the splitter wrapped in vinyl? might work out better, not a fan of the other one you have, I prefer the aggressive look :0}

UPDATE....
After the ice box weather we have had lately I managed to get a bit more done to the WRX.
I removed the grills again and sprayed them gloss black, then removed the Morette headlights and masked off a bit of them and sprayed.
Covers removed.
Masked off and resprayed.
While I had the lights out it was reassuring to check that everything in behind the lights and grills was nice and straight as it should be.
No pictures yet of the lights refitted, I'll makes yous wait on them, I reckon it looks a bit different but suits it well.
The engine bay was cleaned, soaked with G101 and hosed off, aluminium parts were cleaned with Autosmart Alu cleaner and hosed off.
After drying of the plastics were dressed with Autosmart Finish.
I then straightened out the cooling fins on the top mount intercooler, it took a while as each one had to be done individually and it just tidied things up a bit more.
The Forge Motorsport dump valve was removed and replaced with the original recirculating type, no reason in particular, just a personal choice as the full Miltek exhaust system sounds beautiful on its own.

This time I used black Hammerite spray without a primer. I tested it on a small area first, let it sit for a few days and tried to remove it with a wire brush but it wouldnt shift.
Hopefully it stays on now.

Finally got round to the paintwork.
There were quite a few swirls all over the car, they were pretty difficult to photograph, and I wasted more time than enough trying to get pics of them that didn't really show up very much as paint defects in a silver car are almost impossible to photograph.
After washing, de-tarring and claying I used the usual Kestrel DA polisher with a Hexlogic orange componding pad and 3M Perfect-it III Extra Fine Compound. For polishing I used 3M Perfect-it UltrafinaSE on 3M blue polish pad
Glaze - Poorboys White diamond
Hexlogic blue finishing/glazing pad
Sealant- Poorboys EX-P
Hexlogic white polishing pad
Finally finished off with a coat of Valentines Road n' Track and buffed with Eurow microfibre buffing cloths
Swirls on the doors
Swirls and minor scratches on the bootlid
Some poor 50/50 pics of the correction on the doors
Poor 50/50 pic of the bootlid
Exhaust cleaned up
Rim after the chromed lip was resprayed
Some almost finished pics taken in the garage
Still a few more little things to change before I put it up for sale.
Must get some decent pictures of it now
