It's not exactly the same as both of them are my car but the later one is an upgraded grill I fitted that sticks out further forward but wasn't sure what they are called... Wasn't sure if the earlier one was classed as facelift also

thats the phase 1.5, facelift top end, pre facelift bumpers. but the grille is not the full facelift grill as it doesn't stick out further.

So the one that sicks out is classed as a facelift grill and the earlier one I had isn't?

Need to buy a new one as I smashed the front end of my car up on black ice but didn't want to buy the wrong one

Which one do you think this is as it's listed as facelift?

It is a facelift grill, however its an early facelift grill (97-98). Version 5 onwards iirc (99-00) have the full facelift with the slightly deeper sticky out grille.

The easiest way to tell is to look at the mesh, the one in the first pic has criss cross mesh and the full facelift grille has honeycombe mesh.

This grille on ebay is the one you have in the first piccys http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Subaru-Impreza...item43a39eb769

*edit* the ebay item you have listed above is the early facelift grille as in your first pics

That's an MY99/00 grille.

It doesn't matter which you get, they are both facelift fitment - get the one you prefer.

Honeycombe Vs criss cross - that's summed it up perfectly now I have a way of spotting the difference on pictures, everyone takes photo's square on and it's impossible to tell, well it was!

Many thanks
