Default Colour coded side sills

This is probably a really thick question...but I will ask it anyway and use the excuse that I am female (no offence to any other ladies reading this!)

The side sils on my WRX are the bog standard black - I think they look much nicer colour coded and at some point would probably want to change them to silver...do you have to get new ones or can the existing ones just be sprayed the colour of the car? I wasnt sure if they are made of a different material or something.....?

If they can be done, does anyone know a good place in west mids (pref Dudley/Wolverhampton/Black Country areas) that do them and an idea of how much it would cost?

Taaaaaaa v much

To answer your questions in order:
Yes, they can be sprayed. They are plastic, so need PROPER preparation and a special plastic primer, or all the paint will flake off

Any decent bodyshop will do them, best to take them off first. Around 6 bolts underneath and two clips, one at either end. The clips pull out and the screws/bolts that hold them underneath ought to be replaced with stainless, Screwfix do some almost identical.

When I had mine done, I carefully removed the black plastic strip across the top, and replaced it once they were sprayed.

I found a site which might help. They supply bolt on side skirts and splitters already sprayed to match the colour of your car. www.drmotorsport.co.uk. Let me know if its any good, I'm looking for same thing.

I'd advise AGAINST replacing the OE sills, which are ABS and don't mark easily, with fibreglass, which does, and also cracks and splits.
