Default Spraying a front mounted Intercooler

I recently seen a car with what looked like a brand new black front mounted intercooler and really liked the aggressive look of it. Dude basically told me he had it sprayed black, as he showed me the alloy parts and piping that were not sprayed under the bonnet!

Is it safe to do this, without causing any issues, obviously stone chips will take some of paint off, but I am willing to try this if there is no issues regarding it!? Again not really sure about chucking paint at the core of my Intercooler!?

Anyone know any details on this? Thanks, Kendo

Was it a body shop you used to spray them, or did you just do it yourself?
