Default Rear light issue

The last person who owned my car sprayed the rear lights black with what i believe is tinting spray (could be wrong). the thing is i dont want them black any more.

would i be able to rub the stuff off but still have the glass finish at the end. i dont want to ruin my lights but i have managed to polish rough metal to a mirror finish before. is it the same process with plastiic?

or would i be better using g3 or something similar?

I would try using a solvent first, as scrathes would be hard to get out of plastic,

Try a SMALL area with cellulose thinners, available from car paint shops. I WOULD remove the lights from the car to do it, you DO NOT want thinners near your bodywork

Probably 'cos you aren't up to your *rse in thinners at the moment, unlike me. I'm spray painting a full set of window shutters, four pairs, plus 3 pairs of metal ones which use a different paint, and have to clean the spray gun meticulously every spray. It's driving me batsh*t.
