Default Facelift for £117 inc VAT - Oh yeah!

Now its good to have a facelift but costs – so here is my remedy,

My car before.

Got some colour matched paint from my local auto paint shop along with some primer laquer and 1200 grit wet and dry paper, £30

Ordered some fog covers – these were fibreglass and came primered with fixings and decals- the company gave 2 decals HTA and Sti, But that’s only cos I asked if they have any Sti ones, they threw them in free. £40

I found a version 4 grill that is the same colour as my car from ebay £47 posted, The pic is of a different one I found on ebay as I forgot to take one of mine before putting it on, I was lucky to get one with a pink badge …

Firstly the painting, I used the wet and dry, then cleaned it with some white spirit, then one coat of primer – after 2 hours in front of heater – some more wet and dry. Once smooth – this may take a few coats, use the colour, do a few coats using wet and dry in between, finally a few coats of clear, I used t cut to buff the clear coat, took ages but came out fine. Here it is

Use some masking tape to Allign the decals. After that use the screws provided to fit, I did nt remove the foglights – just put the covers over them – although I did remove the lights to make holes for the covers –they more pretty discreet and cant be seen once the covers are off.

Fitting the grill is awkward, it doesn’t sit flush as its too wide and the lights stop it – to solve this you have to trim off some plastic from the grill as shown below, make it so its flush and the side wall is completely shaved off – this makes them go over the lights adn you cant tell once on, I snapped off the two mounting clips behind the grill and used two long screws to fit it.

And finally here is the result

And finally here is the result
