v5 sti spoiler fitting
hi,
i have what looks like a genuine v5 sti spoiler (its says japan abs on the bottom)
The outer holes line up with the holes in my boot already (93 wrx) :-)
But is it really necessary to drill holes in the middle of the boot for all the oter bolts or can i just get away with the three at each end. (i could use strong double sided foam tape in the middle maybee)
the only problem i can see is that the spoiler bows upfrom the boot slightly in the middle.
cheers
andy

Don't assume it's a genuine one just because it says Japan and ABS: my f/glass copy did too. They make the copies by moulding off a real one
Only way to tell is to look at the plastic bit that holds the brakelight in position: it ought to be ABS too, held on with screws and about 3mm thick. Also, IIRC, the brakelights are white but show red
I have a real one now, it's lighter than a copy too.
And yes, I'd screw it/bolt it down in the centre to get rid of the bow.

Fitted a version 6 spoiler to my 93wrx. I was a bit concerned as it was bowing up in the middle, but when i drilled the boot lid and put a couple of self tapping screws in the middle it pulled down flat fine. Its advisable to screw it in the middle too, as its subjected to a lot more force than the lower standard wrx spoiler, so needs the added strength.
