Default painting small items

howdy,

im gonna paint the wing mirrors and wheels on my other car.

As its a drift car im not too worried about the finish on the wheels,

I just need to know what type/grade of paper I need to rub the mirrors and wheels down/'key' them up.

ive got the paint, primer and laquer at the mo.

Thanks

I was gonna use rattle cans from halfrauds.

My brother in law uses a paint sprayer at work for spraying metal battery boxes black though....

to be honest mate if you dont know anyone that paints cars then i would use cans from halfords it wont de great but you can make it look ok.

if your just changeing colour then you can use a bit of 1000 wet to flat them down just making sure that there all dull when you have dryed them off to make sure it will go one properly.

if your filling any slight marks or kerbs use 120 grit paper then prime with high 5 from halford 4 coats should do it then wet flat with 1000 when dry then paint

for the mirrors if the black plastic then you will want to use 500 to flat them first then plastic prime just 1 light coadt wait for it to tack off then go over with 3-4 coats of high 5 wait untill dry flat wet with 1000 then paint base wight till coverd just heep going with a few light coats to build it up. use a heat gun from a couple of feet away to help it dry. then 2 - 3 nice wet coats of laquer not to wet or the laquer will go white then run. same again use the heat gun to help it set.

that should do it for you mate. have fun
