No mate, the facelift grille fits fine. All you need to do is cut a slot so you can get to the release lever. But you do need the later headlights.

 

just bought some of these mate do you think the grill will fit?

 

Yes it will fit, cut a slot so you can get to the lever. Remove the rubber grommets from the back of the grille and push the grille tight up to the slam panel. The bulge on the grille will then go inside the bonnett. I've tie wrapped mine in place but I'm going to make some alloy brackets.

The grille you need is a post 96. This is the one I have, it will fit your bonnett and bumper. You don't need the later bumper.I think the bumper changed in 98, the difference being two slots next to the indicators from three.
