Default Painting white over red?

ok, here is a pic of my car

the white is original, the red was sprayed on as 2 pack about 3 years back, i am now wanting the car all white again.

i have done a test on one C pillar on removing the "lip" left by the painted line (everything in front of the rear doors is all graphics and not a problem, only the rear is the problem)

the lip can be smoothed over with primer fine, what i need to know, is do you think i will have to prime the entire rear end to allow the new white paint to give the correct colour?

normally i would just use primer where its needed, ie: over any bare metal or repairs etc etc, but a few people have told me spraying white over red is a big NO NO

i will prime up the lot of needed, i am just not sure if i need to do the whole lot?

hmm found this on the Max Meyer webpage

Bleeding
Bleeding, Colour Change

Description Discolouration of the topcoat, either in the form of a halo, or, in severe cases, a complete colour change. This defect usually only occurs when spraying over red or maroon paint.
best prime it all up then!

thought it would come out smaller

been having another think, if the red paint is coverd by clearcoat, it can not bleed??????

therefore the only parts that would need primed would be where the clearcoat was rubbed away?

ok, i have finnished one side, took a lot of the door and c pillar down to bare metal, primed up and flatted back

the red has not "bled" (sp?) the primer that i can tell, what i have done is ordered a litre of cheap ford white paint from ebay for £13, i figured i would spray that over first, and if it turns pink, then i know i dont waste any expensive standox subaru paint on it

Micky, it won't bleed or anything like that.

I just hope for your sake, this time the rear is the same white as the front.
