Default Chips Away

I had a little oops with the rear of my STi, and have been given a quote for over £700 from the local dealer to repair it, just needs paint really but they want to replace the bumper, tail light which has a minute scuff, and a piece of filler about the size of a 10p on the rear quarter panel just next to the light and bumper. I saw the local Chips Away guy outside B&Q and he said he could do it for £90 plus VAT.

Just wanted to know if anyone has tried Chips Away or any of the other similar repair systems instead of getting the whole panel painted.

Cheers Al.

i havnt, but i know a guy who is a commisiosn chips away operator and some of his work is amazing, and alot of people have used them to great eeffect, most jobs they can do at your house, larger ones have to be taken away to a proper spray shop but theyl do a good job on yours im certain of it

I've got a nasty chip on the wing I want sorting. Don't suppose you have his number do you? I assume he's local to Warrington.

I think the problem with chips away is that the competance of the individual varies.

The local guy to Hull did an absolutely **** poor job with a mate's car - looked worse than I could manage with a touch-up stick

Obviously quality varies between places but I got a scuff repaired at Chipsaway yesterday and it looks worse now than before. I definitely can't recommend them to anyone

i've used them loads of times around the york area, and got to say will never use body shop again unless it's crumpled.
Makes a fantastic job the lad i use and i'm a hard person to please. He spent 4hrs doing 4 areas and only charged £100, quoted £480 from local body shop. Give them a try!!
