Green Classic - do touch up aerosols work ?
Hi
I have a metallic green classic.
It needs a few touch ups to the paint work (e.g. mirrors etc),
With it being metallic , will this cause a problem for me ? (I have heard a rumour that metallics should be left to the professionals).
Also ..
Would I need to prime the areas ?
Where would I actually get the correct paint ?
Thanks in advance - Mark

I have a 98 Green wagon, with several stone chips. I have experience of marine finishing (very similar to car body work) and am not prepared to do mine. I am getting a friend with lots of prior experience to do it with me. I got a spray can of the paint from Halfords to spray my fog light covers. The match was reasonably good (but not perfect due to the sun on the paintwork). They do touch up sticks, spray cans or even a pot of the paint. It is mixed for you in about 10 mins. You can get the touch up sticks direct from Subaru, but they are slightly more than from Halfords.
You will only need primer if the chips go through the primer! If not, then you wont need it. Make sure you use either a really thin brush, or cocktail stick. Make sure you mix the paint really well, and stir between every 'dip'. If you mess it up, then it is not big problem, as it is better to have bad looking paint than rust! It can always be re-done by a pro in the future if you r not happy with it. Hope this helps.
