How to remove Bump Strips!
Hello Guys I threw caution to the wind today as every time I look at my scooby all I saw was bump strips. So bye bye !!
The passenger side was a big awkward, well they have been on the car for seven years prior to me owning it, but drivers side flew off!
Tools required:
Strong Fingers
Car Polish
Methylated Spirit
Bug and tar remover spray
Before
First off poor or spray Methylated spirirt into the top of the bump strip this will loosen up the glue on the sticky strips that run across the top and bottom.
Go make a cup of tea and come back after.(15-20 Mins)
Then using a set of strong fingers slowly and strongly pull at the edge of the bump strip and peel away being careful not to leave any of the two sticky strips behind. As you can see the drivers side came off cleanly.
Unlike the passenger side which left alot of the sticky strips behind which I removed with the bug and tar remover and alot of elbow grease.
Once removed give the area a good polish and the finished result.

Too late now but if you heat them up nice and hot with a hairdryer or leave the car out on a very hot sunny day (rare opportunity!) they would peel off much easier and probably leave less residue behind. Looks like it worked well for you anyway.

Tried the hair dryer but it was heating the strips but not releasing the glue so used meths instead. Sunny day, you'll be lucky, everytime I clean the car it rains.
